White Carousel 2D Animated Short

A glimpse of White Carousel, my final-year film in University.
When the hands of the cuckoo clock strike,
a wooden doll awakens to yet another cycle...

(When designing each shot, I let intuition guide me rather than trying to force everything into a fixed theme. By that point, the visual tone of the film had already become instinctive. Every new scene naturally followed that look, while still remaining distinct from the ones before it.)

Worlds shift, crumble, and rebuild
as she searches desperately for a way out.

(When designing the poster for White Carousel,
I wanted to feature the dolls and props from the film like a collection of old toys you might find on a shelf in an antique
toy shop.)

Yet... time always
rewinds before freedom can be reached.

(The dolls are animated with a deliberately mechanical rhythm, emphasizing their toy-like nature while keeping the movement playful and unpredictable.)

(The borders contain each scene like
a window into this miniature world.)
At its core, the film was an exploration of how aesthetics can shape meaning, letting design, textures, and colours speak as the voice of the narrative.
Bonus Clip: An incomplete animation that didn't make it into the final film.
